Breakups are rough — especially when they happen in the public eye. Celebrities such as Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Lily Allen, plus Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, have all endured splits in 2019.

The Olympian and the actor announced their breakup on July 11 after nearly four years together. “Gus and Matt are taking time apart,” their rep told Us. “They love and support each other and remain close friends.”

The Girls alum and the College Humor cofounder called it quits on their marriage of nearly four years in June 2019. The couple gave a joint statement to Page Six: “With mutual love and respect, we have made the decision to separate as a couple. We are grateful for the friendship that we have and will continue to have.”

Ivana Trump and Rossano Rubicondi

The former model confirmed that she and the Italian actor had split for thesecond time during an interview with Page Six in June. “I am once again a single woman,” she said. “I have the freedom to do what I want, with whomever I want to, and I can afford my lifestyle.”

Laverne Cox and Kyle Draper

The Orange Is the New Black star announced the couple’s split in June in an emotional message on Instagram. “After much soul searching and tears from both of us, we have decided it’s time for us to go our separate ways,” she wrote in part. “We decided we should make a public statement since our relationship was public in ways neither of us anticipated.” The former couple dated for nearly two years.

Pamela Anderson and Adil Rami

The Baywatch alum announced her split from the French soccer player on Instagram on June 25. “It’s hard to accept. The last (more than) 2.years of my life have been a big lie,” she wrote before accusing Rami of cheating and abuse. Just a few weeks earlier, Anderson told Us that marriage was “always an option.”

Porsha Williams and Dennis McKinley

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her fiancé split in mid-June after one year together. A Williams family member told Us that there “is a tiny, tiny, tiny chance they would get back together.” The couple got engaged in September 2018 and welcomed their daughter, Pilar, in March 2019.

Rachael Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies

The She’s All That star and the Vampire Diaries alum announced their separation after nearly 15 years of marriage in a joint statement on June 13. “With deep gratitude for every year we have spent together and the thousands of beautiful memories shared, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,” they wrote via Instagram. “This decision isn’t one we have come to easily or lightly. We love and respect each other as parents, people and artists and look forward to maintaining the best parts of our relationship for many years to come. Your discretion in this matter is kindly requested for the sake of our children during this time of transition. Thank you to those of you who are already aware; for your tremendous compassion and understanding. Lots of love, Rachael and Daniel.”

The singer-songwriter and the Schitt’s Creek star reportedly went their separate aways, having announced their engagement in December 2018. A source told The New York Post’s Page Six on June 10 that the couple is “over” and will not be getting back together.

Shanina Shaik and DJ Ruckus

“After careful thought and consideration, Shanina Shaik and Greg ‘DJ Ruckus’ Andrews have decided to separate,” the Victoria’s Secret model and musician announced in a statement to Us Weekly on June 7, 13 months after they tied the knot in the Bahamas. “They move forward with much mutual respect and love for each other and ask to please respect their privacy during this time.”

The reality star revealed her breakup with the rapper in a June 7 Instagram post with a one-word caption: “Single.” The couple had been dating on and off since 2017.

Us confirmed on June 6 that the A Star Is Born actor-director and the supermodel broke up after more than four years together. A source revealed that Shayk is “still staying” at Cooper’s house for the time being as they figure out splitting custody of their daughter, Lea.

After a period of separation, the ‘NSync alum filed for divorce from his wife of nearly 15 years on May 13. “I was, at one point, married, and now I am separated, going through a divorce,” he told Us Weekly at the Critics’ Choice Real TV Awards in June.

Scott and Michelle Speer

Michelle filed for divorce from the Step Up Revolution director on May 28, 2019, according to court documents obtained by The Blast. The outlet reports that Michelle is seeking sole legal and physical custody of the couple’s daughter, Skylar, and is also seeking legal fees and spousal support. Documents obtained by Us Weekly show that Scott was charged with several felony counts, including arson, injuring a spouse, child abuse, criminal threats and resisting arrest following a domestic violence dispute in which he allegedly struck his wife and lit a broom on fire before placing it next to the former couple’s home. Scott pleaded not guilty to the charges on May 17, 2019. If convicted, the film guru faces a maximum sentence of up to 11 years and eight months in state prison.

Alexa Curtin and Michael DeVecchio

The Real Housewives of Orange County alum filed for divorce from her husband of six years on May 15. The petition stated that the pair had been separated since June 2015. The news came a month after Alexa’s mom, Lynne Curtin, filed for divorce from Frank Curtin for a second time.

Kendall Jenner and Ben Simmons

The model and the NBA player called it quits for a second time in May 2019, with a source telling Us, “It wasn’t so sudden. Things have wound down between them. They aren’t seeing each other anymore.” They previously split in September 2018 after four months together.

Less than one year after Us Weekly broke the news of the Chicago Med actress and the Chicago P.D. actor’s relationship, the pair called it quits. A source close to the duo told Us exclusively that while they are no longer dating, the breakup was amicable and they are still friends.

A source confirmed to Us Weekly in May that the YouTube star and singer-songwriter went their separate ways amid Giannulli’s parents’ alleged involvement in the nationwide college admissions scandal. “Olivia and Jackson have been cooling off for a couple months,” the insider told Us at the time. “They aren’t together anymore, but are still very cordial and really do remain friends.”

The former E! News host exclusively confirmed her split from the designer in April 2019. “I’m single,” Sadler said. “I always learn a lot about myself [in relationships]. I learn a lot about what I need, what I’ll stand for, what I want and if all that isn’t working, no one’s fault, but I just would rather put my energy into other stuff, you know what I mean?”

Us Weekly confirmed on April 20 that the NFL player, who romanced Becca Kufrin on The Bachelorette, and Amezcua, who appeared on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise, had split. The pair, who were set up by BIP’s Chris Randone, went public with their romance in September 2018 and a month later were talking about moving in together.

The Grammy winner and her husband of two years announced their split on April 19. “Adele and her partner have separated,” the songstress’ rep said in a statement to Us Weekly. “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.” The pair share son Angelo, 6.

The Midnight Sun actress and the “Amen” rapper split up after attending Coachella together in April. “I will always love you,” she captioned a picture of the former couple on Instagram on April 15. “All good things must come to an end.” A source confirmed the split to Us Weekly. “She is too fast paced for him and more into being successful and ambitious,” the source explained. “A lot of her friends have been wanting her to break up with him because she is young and hungry and he can be a negative influence on her even, though at other times has been very supportive and loves her.”

The comedian and his wife split after more than 20 years together. “It is with sadness that Sarah and I announce that we have separated and have begun divorce proceedings,” the Richter, 52, wrote on Twitter in April. “We are extremely proud of the life we’ve built together and shared with so many friends over the years, and even though our marriage has reached its completion we will always maintain a loving friendship and parenting partnership.” Richter and Thyre share two children: son William and daughter Mercy.

Nadler told The Blast in April 2019 that he and the Celebrity Big Brother alum called it quits after 5 years of online dating. Lohan reportedly “went off on him” over a Facebook photo, which prompted a big fight between the pair. He claimed that the reality star apologized for their rift, but it was too late.

Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus

Less than three months after they rekindled their romance, Us Weekly confirmed in April 2019 that the Batman actor and the Saturday Night Live producer had split for a second time. “She has a kid and an ex-husband and a job in New York and Ben has his family and a job in L.A., and while they love and respect each other, they just realized it wasn’t going to work,” an insider told Us at the time. “They really gave it another solid try.”

Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter

The Wendy Williams Show host and her husband of more than 21 years split on April 11. The Dancing With the Stars alum’s attorney confirmed to Page Six at the time that Williams had filed for divorce amid ongoing marital problems. Hours prior to the news, Williams sparked speculation when she ditched her wedding rings for a flower-shaped piece of jewelry, which she wore on her left hand. The former couple’s marriage had weathered years of cheating allegations before they officially ended things in April.

Logan Marshall-Green and Diane Gaeta

After six years of marriage, Diane Gaeta publicly announced via Instagram that she separated from husband Logan Marshall-Green. “I filed for divorce today from @elemgy because people aren’t always what they seem and to every woman out there: always trust your gut,” she wrote on April 5. She then accused the O.C. alum of cheating on her with actress Sarah Hay. “And beware of the faux woman champion like @sarahhayofficial because those girls don’t care about sleeping with a married father of two,” she said. “Peace and Love, thanks for letting me share.”

Amanda Stanton and Bobby Jacobs

The Bachelor alum and the Tillow cofounder split in April 2019, shortly after moving in together. “There was no cheating,” Jacobs told a fan on Instagram. He also revealed that he still plans to be in Stanton’s kids’ lives: “I’d always be there for the girls and I’ve voiced that many a time. Coming from having a deadbeat Dad I’ve chosen to live my life nothing like him. They touched my heart and vice versa. No matter what I’ll always be around for them.” Stanton shares daughters Kinsley and Charlie with ex-husband Nick Buonfiglio.

The National Treasure star filed for an annulment on March 27, just four days after tying the knot with his fourth wife. The pair were first spotted together in April 2018.

The couple — who met and wed on the first season of Married at First Sight in 2014 — announced they had split in an Instagram post in March. “In feb 2019 Jason and I filed for divorce,” Hendrix announced at the time. “We asked for privacy this entire time bc we were trying to figure it all out. At one point we thought we were going to divorce in order to date and start all over the right way. We have decided together to move on in different paths, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have love for each other. He will always have a special place in my heart and life,” the makeup artist added. “We do love you all and appreciate the support that you have shown us from the beginning.”

The former NFL player confirmed his split from his model wife of one year in March 2019, days after she deleted all traces of him from her Instagram account. “This is all very, very personal and very sad. I appreciate everyone who has been so supportive of both of us and I would just ask that everyone respect our privacy at this difficult time,” he told TMZ. “My hope is to put my head down and be allowed to focus on work and what is required of me on the football field.”

The Scream Queens alum and her American Horror Story costar called off their engagement in March after dating on and off for seven years. “Emma and Evan were heading for a split and now are just friends,” one source told Us on March 20. “Evan has moved out. It wasn’t a bad breakup.”

The singer and the Enfants Riches Déprimé designer broke up in early March after four months together. They were friends years before their relationship turned romantic in November 2018. On Valentine’s Day, weeks before their split made headlines, Levy called Lovato a “beautiful soul” on Instagram, adding, “I love you to the moon and back.”

The Big Brother couple broke up in February 2019, as Jansen revealed on his podcast the following month. He told listeners that he was affected by comments Davies had made about their relationship. “Hearing constantly that it’s not a fairytale and I’m far from prince charming, it was just a gut shot,” he added.

The How to Get Away with Murder costars split in February 2019 after nearly three years together, Weber confirmed to Us. “Liza and I share an amazing relationship rooted in love and respect. That relationship has found its way back to the great friendship we’ve always had,” the 90210 alum’s statement read. “We will continue to support each other and will always love working together.”

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson

Sources confirmed to Us Weekly in February 2019 that Kardashian and Thompson called it quits. Their breakup came 10 months after the NBA star was caught cheating on the reality TV personality with multiple women just days before she gave birth to their daughter, True. Days before their split, a source told Us exclusively that the Good American founder — who celebrated Valentine’s Day alone — had been “living and behaving as a single mother” and hadn’t “traveled to Cleveland [where Thompson plays basketball] in a while.”

Lady Gaga and Christian Carino

It was confirmed in February 2019 the “Born This Way” singer and the talent agent called off their engagement. Rumors of a split began after a solo Gaga attended the 61st annual Grammy Awards earlier that month without her engagement ring. The pair started dating in February 2017 and Us broke the news in November 2017 that Carino popped the question several months prior. Weeks prior to their breakup, Gaga and Carino attended their last red carpet together at the 2019 SAG Awards.

The Flipping Out star announced his split from his boyfriend of more than eight years during an episode of his Sirius XM show on January 31, revealing Edward had moved out of their home the night prior. “This has been a long time coming,” Lewis said. “We’ve been in separate rooms for a very long time.” The two are parents to daughter Monroe, whom they welcomed via surrogate in October 2016.

Ariana Grande‘s older brother told Us Weekly exclusively on January 30 that he is single after briefly being part of a throuple with a married couple. “I’m super grateful for my last relationship,” he told Us. “I grew so much in it, and at the same time, it wasn’t working out anymore. I’m super glad that we decided to end things amicably. And that we can all remain friends … that’s the important thing.”

The BLACKPINK member and the EXO boy bander called it quits just weeks after confirming their romance. “It is true that Kai and Jennie have recently parted ways,” SM Entertainment, which represents EXO, said in a statement on January 25. A South Korean cable network reported that the pair split to focus more on work, but SM Entertainment did not confirm the details of the breakup at the time.

Us exclusively revealed on January 23 that the Suicide Squad actor and the tattoo artist split after two years of marriage. Multiple sources told Us that the twosome, who wed in 2016, called it quits in 2018, but remain friends.

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ stars filed for divorce on January 11 after eight months of marriage. The pair fueled split rumors in December 2018 after the Jamaica native started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $5,000 to “get a place to stay.” The TLC personalities also accused each other of infidelity during their marriage.

The actor announced the news on January 21. “It’s a long time coming and we have been together for almost 11 years,” he told Us, noting that he is “very grateful” for the family he started with his now-estranged wife. “For the last couple years, couple three years, it’s been very unusual in the house. But my kids and I have a whole life, a wonderful life. I’ve been telling my wife, ‘It’s OK. Just do whatever you gotta do.’ So, she moved out.”

Us Weekly confirmed that the former Victoria’s Secret model and the Invasion of Love — The Path author went their separate ways in January after a year and a half of dating. The former pair met in June 2017 and became a couple one month later.

The Shameless alum seemingly confirmed his split with the Disney actress in January. “Hey @PeytonList, figured now was as good a time as any to post this. The video was taken on the set of Anthem about two days after we had started dating. I was obviously smitten,” Monaghan tweeted along with a video of him gushing about his now-ex. “Thanks for sharing nearly two amazing years together. Love you and wish you the best.”

Rivera confirmed his split from Flores on January 10 after weeks of speculation. “I haven’t spoken to Fernanda since December 22,” he told In Touch at the time. “I have a lot going on and so in the midst of all the craziness, I try to focus on what’s important. … Fernanda’s not a gold digger. Fernanda didn’t come here for a green card. What happened was things change, things change and people change and I can’t help that.” The pair married during the season 6 finale of 90 Day Fiancé, which aired on TLC in December 2018.

Mary Joan filed for divorce in June 2018. However, news of the couple’s split after 30 years of marriage did not break until January 17 after the To Catch a Predator host was arrested and charged with issuing bad checks. The duo, who weathered a cheating scandal in 2011, share two children.

The 90 Day Fiancé stars parted acrimoniously, with Johnson filing for divorce on January 11, the same day that his Brazilian wife was arrested for the third time for domestic battery. The couple, who starred in season 6 of the TLC reality show, met online and got engaged five days after meeting face to face. Their relationship was plagued by allegations of cheating, with Dos Santos Lima claiming that her husband was being unfaithful with women he met online.

Brie Larson and Alex Greenwald ended their engagement in January 2019 after nearly three years. The Captain Marvel actress had reportedly been dating the Phantom Planet rocker since 2013, and the duo got engaged in March 2016 during a trip to Tokyo.

Birdman filled fans in on his relationship status via his Instagram Story on January 1 in a since-deleted post. “It’s over …” he wrote.
